Elaine Gentile - Plein Air Landscape - Figurative - Still Life

Elaine Gentile creates landscapes on location called "plein aire". The scenery across the Golden Gate Bridge where she lives now resembles the landscapes of her hometown in Upstate N.Y. where she grew up, on a large dairy farm.

Her still life paintings of fruit and flowers are bold with vibrant, contrasting colors. Elaine remembers how as a small child, she used to pick wild flowers.

Her later occupations as a flight attendant, teacher and psychotherapist have all helped to make her abstract pieces more reflective. She likes to work with energy and emotion mixed at times with places of rest.

Her paintings are in the collection of numerous medical and business establishments including the prestigious Sakaide Museum in Japan. Elaine has had numerous exhibitions in Marin County and San Francisco. She was given a "Finalist Award" in the December issue of Artist's Magazine for their 23rd Annual Art Competition for 2006.

Education: B.A. - San Francisco State University, M.A. - Dominican University in Marin County.

Exhibitions: Northern California Art Shows and Festivals, Monthly Sausalito and Mill Valley Art Walks, Bay Model "Women's Show", Indian Valley Juried "Heart to Heart" Show, Sausalito's Annual Industrial Center's  "Winter Open Studios", The Marin Arts Council Open Studios, Various Group Shows in San Francisco
